Calibration in low-data tournaments
Low-data tournaments — bilateral T20Is, regional qualifiers, the early rounds of a multi-stage event — are the toughest calibration environment. Venue sample size is small, batter form windows are short, and the bowler rotation churns quickly. The desk treats low-data tournaments as a separate prediction target. We publish confidence bands that are wider than the IPL cycle, and we tilt the captain-card weight toward role certainty rather than form. The intuition is that role certainty is the most stable signal when sample size is small. On contact desk, low-data tournaments — bilateral T20Is, regional qualifiers, the early rounds of a multi-stage event — are the toughest calibration environment. The variance ride: a season-long view
Variance is part of fantasy. A season-long view helps: across a 74-fixture IPL, a 60% captain hit rate at 2x multiplier produces roughly 150-180 differential points per entry. A 75% hit rate at 2x multiplier produces 200-260. The difference between hitting the median and hitting the upside is typically one or two correctly calibrated differential picks per week. We publish a monthly variance review with the desk’s view on whether the season is running hot or cold relative to the model baseline. On contact desk, variance is part of fantasy. Operator consolidation: a 2026 reading list
Three editor-recommended deep dives on the changing operator landscape. The first covers regulatory consolidation at the state level — how state-level gaming acts are converging on the “predominance of skill” standard. The second covers operator-side M&A activity — which operators have been acquired, which have raised capital, and how the operator-side wallet behaviour has shifted. The third covers the impact on contest depth — whether the operator consolidation has reduced the variety of contest tiers, and whether the prize pool distribution has tightened. On contact desk, three editor-recommended deep dives on the changing operator landscape. How these notes connect back to the methodology
Each archive note has been audited against the editorial methodology on the Review hub. The desk does not republish sister-site content; each note is desk-original. The 4-factor captain model and the venue-and-match-up prediction model are consistent across the archive, so the recommendations on tournament selection, captain calibration, and contest-tier choice are cross-checked against the same backbone. On contact desk, each archive note has been audited against the editorial methodology on the Review hub. Where to send each kind of message
A short reference for which email channel to use. The desk responds to all five channels, but the priority queue and the response time vary.
support — Reading-account questions, sign-in problems, session management, bookmark sync issues, account deletion requests. Response within 24 hours on weekdays, 48 hours on weekends. Treated as priority over the editorial channel because account help is time-sensitive.
editorial — Methodology clarifications, sourcing questions, factual corrections, captain-pick rationales, prediction-card assumptions. Response within 3-5 days via the editor queue. Slower than support because each editorial enquiry passes through the editor-in-chief review.
partnerships — Operator reviews, syndication, cross-desk collaborations, freelance pitches. Response within 5 business days. Pitches that include a 200-word idea, an 80-word methodology preview, and a byline are prioritised.
press — Press / journalist enquiries. Embargoes honoured. Response within 2 business days. Pre-publication coverage requests are honoured if the embargo timeline allows editorial review.
security — Account takeovers, suspicious sign-ins, impersonation reports, vulnerability disclosures. Treated as priority. Response within 4-12 hours. Reports are verified before action.
The contact form On the site routes to the same email queue as the direct email. It is a convenience form for readers who prefer a structured submission. We do not use the form for marketing — the form submission is stored encrypted at rest and is deleted 30 days after the case is closed.
When the desk might not reply at all
Three cases where the desk does not reply: (1) messages that do not include the registered email for account-help cases, (2) messages that include a contest entry from an operator the desk does not audit, and (3) messages that are flagged as spam by the desk email filter.
Case 1 is the most common. If you write to support and do not include the registered email, the desk cannot verify the case and cannot act. Reply with the registered email and we proceed.
Case 2 is rare but real. We do not audit every operator in the market. If your contest entry is with an operator not in the operators directory, the desk cannot provide operator-side support. We can answer general methodology questions, but we cannot help with account-side issues on operators we do not audit.
Case 3 is rare. The desk email filter is configured permissively — only obvious spam (no subject line, all-caps body, embedded links to known-bad domains) is filtered. If your message is filtered, it appears in the spam quarantine and is not assigned to a handler.
One last thing
One last detail. The desk contact page is the right place to send technical questions about the reading app and the desk websites. Technical questions are routed to the engineering team via the support email channel. Engineering response time is 24-48 hours on weekdays; weekend engineering response time is 48-72 hours. Engineering responses cover bugs, crashes, sync failures, and bookmark export issues. Operator-side technical questions are routed to the operator support channel and the desk does not handle them.
Readers who follow contact on SportsCricketFantasy often want to compare it against similar editorial coverage. Our long-form archive sits next to live fixtures so the same desk covers pre-match, mid-match, and post-match analysis without losing context.
