Account deletion is a verified workflow. We email a confirmation to the address tied to the account, you click the confirmation link, and the deletion is queued. After 7 days, the account and its associated data are removed from production.

Step 1: email the customer-care hub with "Account deletion" in the subject. Include the email address tied to the reading account.
Step 2: we send a confirmation link to the registered email. Click the link within 7 days to confirm the deletion.
Step 3: the deletion is queued. Reading-account data (bookmarks, captain picks, reading progress) is removed from production within 7 days.
Step 4: data-retention behaviour. We retain anonymised aggregate analytics for up to 12 months for editorial methodology improvement. The anonymised data cannot be tied back to the deleted account.
After deletion, you cannot recover the account or any of its data. If you change your mind, you would need to create a new reading account from scratch.
Operator-side accounts are separate. We do not have access to operator-side accounts. To delete an operator-side account, contact the operator directly.
